What is a business day?

A business day is any day that is not a weekend and not a public holiday. In most countries, business days are Monday through Friday. Some countries observe different weekend patterns. For example, many Middle Eastern and North African countries use Friday and Saturday as their weekend.

Business days matter for shipping estimates, payment terms, legal notice periods, refund windows, and service-level agreements (SLAs). This calculator handles both the weekend logic and the public holiday data for your chosen country automatically.

How this calculator works

  1. 1

Start day = day 0. The date you enter is not counted. "3 business days after Monday" lands on Thursday.

  2. 2

Weekends are skipped based on the selected country's weekend definition (most use Saturday–Sunday; some use Friday–Saturday).

  3. 3

National public holidays are skipped when the "Skip public holidays" toggle is on. Regional or state-level holidays are not included by default.

  4. 4

Timezone-safe math All calculations use plain calendar dates with no UTC conversion, so there's no risk of off-by-one errors around daylight saving time.
